Today it's December 1st, so formally we can start looking forwards to Christmas. Finally!

I made Garpur a calender to count down the days to Christmas. Instead of buying a chocolate one like all the kids here get, I made him a little sticker-book, and wrapped in a few stickers for each day of the month. then I pinned up a long piece of string on the tapestry in the living room (sorry Vala) in a zig-zag pattern, so that it's small at the top and gets bigger at the bottom ... and represents a Christmas tree. Each little package is fastened to the sting
with a little clothes-peg, which has a number on it. I'm very proud of this calender, it was easy to make, it won't damage Garpur's teeth, and he LOVES it. He got permission to take the little sticker-book to play school with him today, to finish putting all the stickers he got this morning into it.

Garpur can be such a very sweat boy. This morning when he first saw the new calender, he was so impressed with it that he hugged and kissed me, and told me that he would think hard about what he could make for me in return.
On our way out to go to play-school, he was fishing for compliments for the sweater he was wearing (a hooded "lopapeysa" (icelandic woolen sweater)), ofcourse he got the compliment he wanted from me. Then he said "hey mom, you're wearing almost everything black", I responded "yeah that's right, do you think I should maybe wear more colors today?", Garpur replied "No, I think you look very good mom, I think that what you're wearing really suits you" .... now that's my boy, practicing on his mom, on ways to charm the hell out of girls. Well, it worked for me!

On our way to play-school Garpur was so cute. He was running, jumping, dancing and twirling. I asked him why he was doing these wonderful movements. He explained to me that if he kept moving, "the Bull of the Coldness" (Kuldabolinn) wouldn't eat him. Here in Iceland when it gets cold we often refer to the coldness as "the Bull (of Coldness)", and we say that it's biting us ... Garpur may have misunderstood this slightly, so he was dancing for his life on his way to play-school this morning!
